Heads-up to all number plate fans, something pretty exciting just dropped. On 7 October 2025, the DVLA launched thousands of previously unissued prefix registrations (A–H prefixes) featuring the numbers 27, 28 and 29. And guess what? You can now browse and snap them up right here on Yellowhite (Use our advanced Prefix search)
What’s Changed (and Why It’s Cool)
Prefix registrations have a bit of nostalgia. They were common before 2001, and they carry that classic one-letter + number(s) + letters format (think A27 SEA, C28 ABC, etc.). The DVLA had some combinations lying dormant, and now they’re letting them loose.
From 10 am on 7 October, these new combos went live, A through H prefixes, paired with 27, 28 or 29, making way for a fresh wave of personalised registration options. (Yep, that means more chance to find something truly unique.)
How It Works on Yellowhite
We’ve synced up with the release, so you can:
- Browse new prefix registration options (A27, B28, C29… and so on)
- Search by your preferred letters or word fits
- Reserve and transfer the ones you like (we’ll handle the fuss so you don’t have to)
If you’ve been holding out for a plate that stands out, this is it. These combos are brand new to the market, you won’t find some of them floating around already.
Why You’ll Want to Act Fast
- These were previously unissued, so inventory is limited.
- Once some of the more desirable combinations go, they could disappear before you know it.
- Prefix plates carry a classic charm that many buyers love.
So, if there’s a letter + number combo you’ve been eyeballing, don’t wait.
